Buffalo Check Birthday

I made this card for my future daughter-in-law, Blair, for her birthday.  She LOVES red and black Buffalo Check.  I tried a "mini poinsettia" for the flower, but it just didn't seem right, so I changed it out for a red and black daisy.

Measurements:

  • Basic Black: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE, 2 3/4" square, scraps
  • Real Red: 4" x 5 1/4", 2" x 5 1/2", 2 3/4" square
  • Whisper White: 4" x 5 1/4"
To Make This Card
  • Fold Black in half, lengthwise. Cut "Happy" from front of card.  I lined up the bottom cut 5/8" from bottom of lower left side, and 2 5/8" from bottom of lower right side.  Be sure to center the "Happy". Adhere white piece to inside.
  • Cut just the "Happy" from the strip of Real Red, too. Trim so approximately 1/4" above and below the letters.
  • Stamp Buffalo Check in Black StazOn onto Real Red quarter.
  • To cut the "DSP" layer at the correct angle, grab a pencil. Line the lower edge of the stamped "DSP" to the lower edge of the card front, leaving an 1/8" edge all around.  Flip over the card, and lightly pencil the cut edge of the "Happy".  Cut with paper trimmer.  Fit to bottom area of card.  You will need to probably remove an additional 1/8" from the bottom, straight edge of the layer.
  • Now, take the remaining piece an fit to the upper part of the card front.  Again, leave an 1/8" and measure the correct placement from the upper, straight edge, about 1/4", but trim a little at a time, lining up the check pattern! Adhere both pieces!
  • Put adhesive on the wrong side of the "Happy" on the card.  Attach "shadow" to the back trimming outside edges flush with the card.
  • Punch one "Daisy" from Basic Black, and one from Real Red.  Shape, if desired, and layer together with a glue dot.  Attach to card as shown.  Add "center" of your choice.  I used a 1/2" black cardstock center with a bow of black & white Baker's Twine.
  • Finish with "Birthday" cut from the Well Written dies in Basic Black.

Side Pull Out Card - Circle

Ok, so, I've done an Oval and a Square Side Pull Out card, here's a Circle version! My aunt (who was visiting from Springfield, IL) and my Mom were wanting to try one of these designs, so we came up with a non-seasonal circle card with the gorgeous Ornate Garden DSP and the flower from To A Wild Rose!!

Measurements:

  • Rococo Rose (or Merry Merlot): 1/2 sheet
  • Whisper White: 5 1/4" x 8", 3" square
  • Ornate Garden DSP: A - 4" x 5 1/4", B - 2" x 5 1/4", 1/2" strips
  • Gold Foil: 3" square
To Make This Card
  • Fold Rococo Rose card base in half. Attach Ornate Garden DSP quarter to front along outside edges only.
  • Cut largest scallop circle through both layers on front of card.  Discard DSP piece, and set Rococo Rose piece aside to use later.
  • Fold Whisper White card in half, and then again in half, back on itself, creating a "Z" fold. Crease well. Flip over so the "Z" is on the right, and adhere "base" to inside of Rococo Rose card. Attach DSP strip to outside (or inside) narrow panel.
  • Close card.  Place adhesive on part of the "z" fold that is showing through the circle. Take the scallop circle that you removed from the front and adhere through the opening, lining up the scallops. Add a Gold Foil scallop circle cut from the next size scallop circle.
  • Stamp "rose" in Memento Black onto piece of white. Color with Rococo Rose Blends. Cut out with Circle Die.  Attach to scalloped circles on front of card.
  • Attach 1/2" strips of DSP to inside of card, if desired.
  • Finish with Embellishment of your choice in the center of the flower, and sentiment of your choice.

Curvy Daisy

Here's a totally different look using the Quite Curvy Bundle and products from our Annual Catalog, that you might already have!!  This bundle is SO VERSATILE!!!

Measurements:

  • Seaside Spray: 1/2 sheet, 2" x 4" (Daisies)
  • Misty Moonlight: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Whisper White: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Flowers for Every Season: 2" x 5"
  • Just Jade: 3" x 4"
To Make This Card:
  • Layer Misty Moonlight and Floral DSP to folded Seaside Spray card.
  • Cut the “filigree” curve from Whisper White piece, making sure the cutting edge is near the lower edge!
  • Match the curve of the sentiment of your choice to the “filigree” curve. (It’s nice that the photopolymer stamps allow you to do this!) Stamp in either Seaside Spray or Misty Moonlight.
  • Determine the placement of the “filigree” layer by placing the filigree so it just misses the cut edge of the floral DSP.  Mark top edge placement and trim white piece, making sure sides are straight!·
  • Punch 2 “medium daisies” from strip of Seaside Spray. Shape “petals” and assemble them together with Mini Glue Dot, offsetting petals.
  • Die cut “sprig” in Just Jade.  Trim to fit under “Daisy”.  I did not use the entire “sprig”.
  • Finish with a Misty Moonlight bow and pearls in the center of the “Daisy”.
