Elegant Evergreen Forest

So, I've been cleaning and organizing to make room for Amanda's move back to the Quad Cities!  Which translates into no time to create! However, thanks to my Aunt Marcia, I have this gorgeous Christmas card to share with you! And, the best thing is, these items are still available so you can recreate it yourself!  She uses a gorgeous combination of the Evergreen Forest embossed in both Gold and Basic White.  Just stunning!  Enjoy!

Blessings of Home in Gold

The stamp set, Blessings of Home, is a new stamp set we could pre-order for our OnStage at Home stamping projects.  The stamps are gorgeous.  We made 3 cards, which I need to share, but my Mom wanted to play with it, too.  She had a totally different take on the stamps than what we did.  I love the elegance of embossing on vellum with a touch of gold foil. So, here is a sample, again, from my Mom!

 Measurements:

  • Basic Black: 1/2 sheet
  • Gold Foil: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8", (2 5/8" x 3 3/4")
  • Heart & Home DSP (N): 3 1/2" x 4 5/8" (wood grain)
  • Vellum: 2 pcs @ 2 3/4" x 4"
  • Basic White: 2 5/8" x 3 3/4"
To Make this Card:
  • Cut Gold "label" from center of Gold Layer, using the Stitched So Sweetly dies..  Set aside. Now, attach the gold foil layer to folded Basic Black card.
  • Attach DSP layer over opening in gold layer.
  • Stamp sentiment in black onto Basic White piece.  Cut out with same label die.
  • Split gold label in half, lengthwise to create a layer, and add to front of card.
  • Now, emboss 2 smaller "flowers" in gold embossing powder onto vellum.  Cut out with corresponding die. One is a full flower, one flower is trimmed smaller - remvoing stem.
  • Color images with blends, as shown.  You can color from the back side, making a more "stained glass" look, or from the front.
  • Attach these to the card with Dimensionals, and you're done!

Welcome Card

I designed this card, using mostly retired items, to welcome new members into our church family.  I wanted to use a "church" of some kind and a "welcome".  I really like how it turned out!

Measurements:

  • Misty Moonlight: 1/2 sheet
  • Trimming the Town DSP: 3 1/4" x 4 1/2"
  • Basic White: 1/4 sheet, 4" x 5 1/4", 3" x 4 1/2", scrap
  • Gold Foil: scraps
To Make This Card:
  • Cut large, Scalloped Frame from quarter of White cardstock. Attach to folded Misty Midnight cardstock. Add DSP.
  • Cut border with "church" from 4 1/2" strip. Add gold foil behind "windows", then attach to card as shown.
  • Cut "welcome" from Basic White.  Curve slightly and attach to card as shown.

Simple Perfectly Plaid

I created this classy, simple card for my card group at church.  It does use some retired DSP, but you can use anything that you have for that piece. I also used the older Perfectly Plaid Bundle, which is still available!. I just love this set & punch!!  I encourage you to give this layout a try!

Measurements:

  • Cherry Cobbler: 1/2 sheet
  • Wrapped in Plaid DSP (ret): 2 1/2" x 4 1/4"
  • Basic White: 2 3/4" x 4",  4" x 5 1/4" (inside), scrap
  • Basic Black: 3" x 4 1/4"
To Make This Card:
  • Fold Cherry Cobbler card in half. Run front through Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder. (the image will be reversed).
  • Attach DSP to bottom of card.
  • Stamp sentiment in black ink onto bottom of White layer.
  • Stamp and punch "plaid" tree in Shaded Spruce.  Punch out with Tree Punch.
  • Lay this piece on White layer, above sentiment, centering on piece.  Lightly mark placement, for other 2 trees. Remove punched tree.
  • Stamp one tree on either side of markings.  Some of the trees will be off the layer. Attach the White layer to the Black layer.
  • Next, add punched "tree" to card layer with Dimensionals.  Place Dimensionals onto layer and attach to card.
  • FInish with knot of ribbon, and/or scattered rhinestones.

Gift Card Holder with Surprise Pop Up Gift Bag+Video

I started this darling Gift Card Holder in Indiana last week, but was missing the stamps that I needed to finish it.  So, here it is! I just LOVE it! I think it's fun that it just looks like a card, but...SURPRISE, there's a little gift bag inside, with a little something in it!  I have only seen a few samples. Most use a belly band to close it, but, well, you know how I feel about belly bands.  So mine is closed with a Velcro dot! I have used the Heartwarming Hugs DSP and the Perfectly Plaid stamps and tree punch (yes, it is still available, and one of my favorites, in the Annual Catalog). I hope to do a video on how to make this!

Measurements:

  • Mossy Meadow: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
  • Heartwarming Hugs DSP:  4" x 9 1/2" (BAG); 3 ½” x 4" (stripe), 2 ¼” x 4" (dots) - outside; 2 3/4" x 4" (dots), 2 1/4" x 4" (diag stripe)  - inside
  • Basic White: 4" x 4" (inside), scraps - trees, outside sentiment
To Make This Card:
  • Score Mossy Meadow base along 11" side at 3 1/2" - 8 1/2". Crease well.
  • Score "BAG" DSP as follows: along 4” side, score at 1” and 3 ½”; along 9 ½” side, score at ½”, 1”, 4 ½”, 5”, 5 ½”, and 9”.
  • The two sections of the gift bag scored a ½” apart will fold in like a real gift bag. Cut out notches as noted below:

  • While the "bag" is still flat, use an old, small hole punch to make the holes for your "handle", .Punch holes approx  1” below the score line (see pix) – to make it easier, you can fold bag over to get both sides at once.
  • Thread a 5” piece of ribbon through each side, secure with tape (scotch), then use Tear & Tape to adhere the 1” flap down and over that so it cannot be seen.
  • Next, place Tear & Tape on the ½” panel (on the right here). Make the bag by attaching this  over the left most ½” panel.  Now, you have your little gusseted bag!
  • To attach your gift bag into your card – place Tear & Tape on the bottom ½” tabs of your gift bag. Place into card (in the crease of the 3 ½” score mark) and carefully close card. When you open, the gift bag should pop right up.  Too fun!
  • Now to decorate!!  I added the White square to the inside, first. Then add the corresponding DSP pieces to the outside & inside.
  • Choose a "theme" that goes with your DSP, and/or stamps that you have!
