Accordion Insert Mystery Stamping Card

My aunt point out this cool card that Sharon Armstrong shared on her Monday night Mystery Stamping a few weeks back. Needless to say I was fascinated. Have done several of this type of card before, but never landscape, and never with so much inspiration!  So, since I am visiting her this week, we decided to try it out together!  For mine, I used the Celebratory Sips DSP and pretty much made it identical to Sharon's.  My aunt, on the other hand went "rogue" and used some just retired DSP, a cool retired die/frame, and a current sentiment!  They are both so different!! I LOVE how they turned out!

Measurements:

  • Berry Burst: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE, scrap
  • Celebratory Sips DSP (OE): 4 1/4" x 11" (inside), 4" x 5 1/4" (front), fussy cut "drinks")
  • Basic White: 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" scrap
To Make This Card:
  • Adhere DSP to front of folded Berry Burst card base.
  • Score the strip of DSP on the long side @ 3" - 4" - 5"- 6" - 7"- 8" - 9". Accordion fold this strip, starting with a "valley" fold.
  • Add the accordion folded DSP piece to the inside of the card base, lining it up so the it is about 1/4" from the right side and centered from top to bottom.  Repeat for the other side.
  • Stamp sentiment on White piece in Berry Burst ink, near the top, leaving room to sign at the bottom. Adhere to inside of card.
  • Stamp sentiment for the front, in Memento Black ink.  Punch out Labeled with Love Punch.  Mount onto split Berry Burst punched layer.  Attach to card front with Dimensionals.
  • Fussy cut 2 "drinks" from sheet of DSP. Adhere to front of card with Dimensionals.
  • Finish with scattered Strawberry Slush gems.

Charming Day Spring Platform Pop-Up Card

I saw this fun, fun fold, from Dawn Griffith that used 2 of my favorite things - the Arched Dies and the new Charming Day Bundle! It also has a neat 2-way opening but most of all, a fun "spring" mechanism, that makes the insert just pop! I'll be looking for ways to encorporate this one in the future!

Measurements:

  • Petal Pink: 1/2 sheet
  • Subtles Print Pattern: 4" x 5 1/4" (Petal Pink small print)
  • Basic White: 3 3/4" x 10" (inside), 1 1/2" x 4 1/4" (Spring Mechanism), 2 1/4" x 3" (arch layer), 1" x 2" (label), scraps
  • Mossy Meadow: scrap
To Make this Card:
  • Adhere the outside edges only of the DSP to the folded Petal Pink card base.
  • Die cut the 5th from the largest arch front the center of the front of this base.  You will keep the solid, cardstock piece, and toss the DSP piece.
  • Next, die cut the next smallest arch in Basic White and layer together.
  • Now, for the inside "card".  Fold the largest piece in half.  Center it and place inside the base card.
  • Next, stamp 3 of the small flowers from the Charming Day stamp set onto a scrap of White. Color in with Blends, and die cut. 2 will go on the outside, and one will go on the inside of the card. I also added Wink of Stella to the flowers at this time, too.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Memento Black ink onto the label, and set aside. Also stamp an inside sentiment onto a narrow strip of White and set this aside, too.
  • Now, arrange the 2 flowers onto the layered arches, Making sure the "leaves" do not extend over the cut edges.  Also, add sentiment to the arch with Dimensionals, as shown.
  • Next, we'll make the "spring" mechanism.  Score the 1 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece @ 1/2"-1"-1 1/2" from each end.  "Accordion" fold at each end, so each end is the same. Crease well.
  • Close card, and center "spring mechanism" in arched opening.  Adhere the 1/2" on each side, to the center (green glue gives you time to slide it into place) so it will "spring"!
  • Next, place adhesive on the exposed 1 1/4" area, center layered arch piece through the opening in the front and adhere to the "spring". And, voila, it's done! (It is a little snug, but that's ok.)
  • On the inside of the inside card, Add one of the flowers, along with a die cut, small leaf, in the upper corner.  Add the sentiment so that it overlaps the stamped image just a bit.
  • Finish with scattered Petal Pink gems from the Charming Shimmer Dots.

Wildflower Birthday Tall Square Card

My Senior Center gals are always wanting Birthday Cards! I found this one, that I thought they would enjoy, as they could create their own "focal point" using what pieces I had.  It worked out really well!  They loved it! And, they were all uniquely different! This version also comes from my downline, Robin Armbrecht.

Measurements:

  • Pretty in Pink: 4 1/4" x 8 1/2", 4 1/4" square (circle)
  • Wildflower Birthday DSP (OE): 4" square (peach print), various die cuts
  • Basic White: 3 1/2" square (outside circle), 4" square (inside)
To Make This Card:

  • Fold Pretty in Pink card base in half, creating a square card.  Adhere "Peach Print" DSP to the front, and White square to the inside.
  • Die cut largest "radiating" circle from Pretty in Pink, and the "slashed" circle from the White, from the Spotlight on Nature.
  • Emboss sentiment from Birthday Celebration in Gold, onto White Circle.
  • Next, let's create a "focal point".  I started with a small "cupcake" die cut.  Attach to circle with Dimensionals, as shown.
  • Next, select a "leaf" and add to card. I creased it a bit in the center, and then tucked it under the "cupcake".  At this time, I also added a small "flower" die cut.
  • Lastly, I selected a flower(s) to finish off the "focal point".  I chose from several that would best color coordinate with the rest of my "focal point".
  • Adhere to Pink circle.
  • To finish the inside, select a "floral" die cut and add to White layer.
  • Now, to attach the circle to the card front, so it will fit into a standard, A2 envelope.
  • To do this, take a quarter piece of cardstock to use as a template.  Line up the Pretty in Pink "square" base to the bottom of the "template". Next, flip over the circle, so the top of the circle matches the top of the "template".  Adhere Dimensionals to the "bottom" of the circle, where it will attach to the card base.  Flip the circle over and adhere to the front of card.
  • To finish the card, tie a knot of Gold Open Weave trim, and adhere under "cupcake", and scatter Drusy Gems.
