Final (for now) Birdhouse Card

Here is my final (for now) Birdhouse Card that we created. I love the trio of birdhouses in Balmy Blues and Granny Apple Greens! Again, simple stamping and coloring make for an awesome card!

Measurements:

  • Balmy Blue: 1/2 sheet, 3 1/4" x 4 1/4"
  • Sweet as a Peach (ret): 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Basic White: 2 pcs @ 4" x 5 1/4", 3" x 4"
To Make this Card:

  • Run one White layer through Stitched Greenery Die.  Adhere to folded Balmy Blue card.
  • Take DSP and randomly cut at a diagonal. Attach to card front. Save top piece for inside.
  • Stamp "birdhouses" onto smaller White piece as shown.  Try to keep them fairly close together and varying heights.
  • Stamp "stand" below.  Add Granny Apple Green "grasses" below each "birdhouse".
  • Color "birdhouses" in Balmy Blues and Granny Apple Greens.  Attach to Balmy Blue layer.
  • Attach this piece to card front with Dimensionals.
  • Color 9" of narrow seambind with Balmy Blue Blend.  Tie in a bow and attach to center birdhouse with mini glue dot.
  • Finish with scattered, retired Artistry Sequins.

Clean and Simple Birdhouse

I love all things aqua, so this birdhouse card is probably my favorite.  It looks a little washed out in the picture, but it really is lovely in person!  This one uses the Scalloped Contour Dies and the host Design a Daydream DSP. This one is just stamped directly to the White layer, hence its' simplicity! The DSP layer is cut with the largest Scalloped Die, and the White scalloped rectangle from the next size. I also colored the retired Seam Binding with a blend for a coordinating ribbon!  Love this! It's really much prettier in person!

Measurements:

  • Pool Party: 1/2 sheet
  • Design a Daydream DSP (H) (N): 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White: 3 1/2" x 5"
To Make this Card:

  • Cut out largest scallop die from DSP.  Adhere to folded Pool Party card.
  • Cut next largest scallop die from Basic White.
  • Stamp chosen "birdhouse" in Memento Black onto White die cut rectangle.
  • Mask the bottom edge, along "stitching" and stamp "birdhouse stand". Also stamp "grasses" in Shaded Spruce.
  • Also add sprigs of flowers and a bird, if desired.
  • Color in as shown.  The birdhouse is Lt Daffodil, Dk Pool Party, and Balmy Blue.  Color the flowers with Fresh Freesia.
  • Color the ribbon with Pool Party Blend.  Tie in a knot and attach to "birdhouse".
  • Attach to card with Dimensionals.
  • Finish with new Iridescent Pearls.

Faux Spanner Card

Still working on sharing Garden Birdhouse cards!!  I spotted a version of this card using a piece from the retired Bloom Where You are Planted DSP that I hadn't used! They made it into a "Spanner" card, with a window sheet "span", but Mom & I felt that it hid too much of the DSP.  So, we just glued down the outside edges, and lifted the center. Necessity creates new designs!

Measurements:

  • Shaded Spruce: 1/2 sheet
  • Bloom Where You Are Planted (ret): 4" x 5 1/4", scrap
  • Basic White: 2 pcs @ 1 1/8" x 4 1/8", 2 pcs 2 7/8" x 4 1/8", scraps
To Make this Card:

  • Fold Shaded Spruce card.  Cut from either side of front 1 1/4" in and up to crease.
  • Attach White pieces to front as shown. Then, cut DSP into pieces, cutting from left to right, 1" - 2 3/4" - 1".  Toss the scrap. Adhere to coordinating areas.
  • Adhere side pieces to back of card.
  • Stamp one-each of the 3 birdhouses onto scraps of White.  Color as desired using Crumb Cake and Mint Macaron.  Cut out with Paper Snips.
  • Stamp "birdhouse" stand onto side pieces.  Attach 2 "birdhouses" over "stands" with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • "Hang" one birdhouse in the center panel.
  • Stamp "grass" in Shaded Spruce along bottom of DSP.  You could do this before you adhere them to the corresponding panels, or just make sure you mask the bottom.
  • Also stamp the "grass" on the inside White piece.  Adhere inside.  Attach a scrap of DSP, if desired.  Finish with scattered Brushed Brass Butterflies.

Birdhouse Tags

Here is another one of those Garden Birdhouse cards we made!  I saw a version of this by one of our talented demos on our Retreat! The colors were just stunning. My version uses Mint Macaron (instead of Pool Party) and So Saffron.  I've used the Tailor Made Tags, Basic Borders Dies (love the "zig-zag" detail) and the new Host pack of DSP - Design a Daydream.

Measurements:

  • Mint Macaron: 1/2 sheet, 1" x 4"
  • Design a Daydream DSP (H) (N): 4" x 5 1/4"
  • So Saffron: 2 1/2" x 4 1/4", 1" x 4", scrap
  • Basic White: 2 1/2" x 4 1/4", 4" x 5 1/4" (inside) scraps
To Make this Card:

  • Attach DSP to folded Mint Macaron card.
  • Cut largest "tag" from Basic White and So Saffron, as well as a "reinforcement" from So Saffron.
  • Cut "zig-zag" from Basic Borders Dies in So Saffron and Mint Macaron.
  • Stamp and color "birdhouse" of your choice. Cut out with Paper Snips. Set aside.
  • Stamp "birdhouse stand" directly onto White Tag, as shown.  Attach cut "birdhouse" above with dimensionals. (the "stand" goes quite a ways up behind the birdhouse).
  • Stamp sentiment in Black. Add So Saffron "reinforcement" to White tag.
  • Layer the 2 "zig zags" together. (Love this!) Attach to back of right side of White tag.  Trim ends.
  • Line up ribbon holes of both tags and layer as desired.  Select a coordinating ribbon on thread/twine and run through both holes.
  • Now, attach to card.  I attached my flush, with the White Tag centered and straight-on.
  • Finish with some yellow retired Artistry Sequins.

I like to sit down with a new stamp set, or bundle, and create at least 2 cards. Well, yesterday, Mom and I got a little carried away.  We made FIVE using the Garden Birdhouses stamp set! We had so much fun, and there are many more I would like to do!  So, get this set, grab your Stampin' Blends, and get creating with me!! When I am done posting, you will have an entire set with this stamp set!! (also great for "guy" cards!)

  • In Good Taste DSP(ret): 4" x 5 1/4" (any woodgrain)
  • Basic White: 2 pcs @ 4" x 5 1/4" (1 for "windows", 1 for inside)
To Make this Card:

  • Cut rectangle "windows" from the Picture This dies. Set aside.

  • Stamp each "birdhouse" onto one white "window". Color with Blends.
  • Now, attach Foam Adhesive Strips to back of wood grain "window" piece. Attach to folded Calypso Coral card.
  • Match each stamped window to window opening, and adhere flat into opening.
