Quick and Simple Grassy Grove Card

This is a modification of a Mystery Card that I will be sharing with you soon!  It uses the always versatile New Horizons DSP (which I hope you have, as it's now gone), and the Grassy Grove Bundle. It's kind of a paper piecing card, but VERY simple to do!  Select a DSP for the "focal point" and then add 2 pieces below, one uses a sentiment.  And, voila, you have a card for any occasion!!

Measurements:

  • Night of Navy: 1/2 sheet, 2 1/4" x 5", 2 pcs @ 1 1/2" x 2 1/2", scrap
  • New Horizons DSP (ret): 2 1/8" x 4 3/5"
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", 2 pcs @ 1 1/4" x 2 1/4"
To Make This Card:

  • Attach White layer to folded Night of Navy card.
  • Attach DSP to coordinating Navy Layer. Set aside.
  • Stamp "grasses" from Grassy Grove bundle onto one White piece. I used Navy.
  • Stamp sentiment of your choice in Night of Navy on remaining White piece.  Mount onto coordinating Navy layers.
  • Cut large "deer" from scrap of Navy.
  • Now, arrange all the pieces on the card front.  Once it all fits the way you want it to, attach them to the card.
  • Finish by attaching the die cut deer.  The head will go above the rectangle.

Simply Peaceful Grassy Grove

Here is another card that my Aunt Marcia brought. I hadn't done the Grassy Grove Bundle in anything but Black Cardstock, this was so nice in Night of Navy! The stunning thing about this the dimension!!  The entire "grove window" is popped up, making shadows.  It's just stunning!  She added a silver embossed tag with Happy Birthday.  You know how I feel about sentiments on top of a pretty creation.  So, I'm undecided until I actually send it!  I have used so much of this DSP, I think I only have one piece of this paper left!!

Measurements:

  • Night of Navy: 1/2 sheet, 4" x 5 1/4"
  • New Horizons DSP (ret): 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4" (inside)
To Make This Card:

  • Trim about 1/16" from around DSP.  Attach to front of folded Night of Navy card.
  • Run Night of Navy quarter sheet through Grove of Trees.  Attach to card, over DSP with Foam Adhesive Strips.  I also added some "support" using scraps of strips under some of the trees!
  • Finish as desired.  Easy peasy!

Simple, Elegant Sympathy Card

My aunt Marcia was over this past week, and, of course, we did some stamping!  She did some of my projects, and I did some of hers! This is one of hers that I thought was simply elegant.  It could be used for many occasions, but she earmarked hers as a sympathy card, using an old, retired stamp set!  It uses the retired New Horizons DSP, and the retired Ornate Floral EF.

Measurements:

  • Evening Evergreen: 1/2 sheet, 3 1/4" square, scrap
  • New Horizons DSP (ret): 3" square
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", scrap
To Make This Card:

  • Run White layer through an embossing folder of your choice.  We used the recently retired Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Attach that layer to the folded Evening Evergreen card.
  • Attach DSP to Evening Evergreen square.  Attach to card front with Dimensionals.
  • Stamp sentiment of your choice, in Evening Evergreen, onto scrap of White.  Punch out with "smooth" Oval Punch.  Add to punched Evergreen scalloped Oval.  Add this to card, too, with dimensionals.

Grassy Grove Book Mark Card

I got the tutorial for this awesome Grassy Grove Book Mark Card in a class bundle from Kelly Acheson.  I just loved it, and I know you will, too! So grab the gorgeous New Horizons, soon to be retired, DSP and your Grove Dies, and let's have some fun!

Measurements:

  • Petal Pink: 1/2 sheet, 2" x 5" (bookmark)
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4" (inside)
  • Basic Gray: 4" x 4" (front), 1 7/8" x 3 7/8" (bookmark), scraps (deer)
  • New Horizons (N): 4" x 5 1/4", 1 7/8" x 4 7/8" (bookmark), 3/4" x 5 1/4" (inside)
To Make This Card:

  • Fold Petal Pink card in half.  Add White layer to inside, along with 3/4" strip.
  • Cut right side of "woods" from 4"x4" Basic Gray layer, cut the left side of "woods" from smaller piece.
  • To create the bookmark, attach the DSP to the Petal Pink strip.  Attach the die cut gray piece on top, matching the top cut edges.
  • Stamp sentiment in Basic Gray at the bottom.
  • Punch a hole at the top and thread through 7" ribbon, book-mark style.  Set aside.
  • Attach the 4"x4" die cut Basic Gray piece to DSP layer.  I used Multipurpose Glue.
  • Lay bookmark on top of DSP layer and, using a pencil, mark width of bookmark just below Gray cut edge.  Cut a slit with your paper trimmer, blade, or scissors.  Test to make sure the bookmark fits.  Trim a little, if necessary.
  • Next, place 1/8" Tear n Tape onto the bottom and left edge of layer.  You can use regular adhesive for the other 2 sides.  Adhere to folded Petal Pink card.
  • Finish with sentiment on front stamped in Basic Gray, 2 Deer, and a couple of "Pebbles" (soon to be retired, too!)
  • Attach larger DSP to folded Black card. (I used a pattern from the Hand Penned DSP, but there is also an awesome piece of swirl that would be great, too).
  • Center the "window grove" over the smaller Black piece.  Cut the tree opening the best you can, having tree "trunks" at the outside edges.
  • Attach this "window tree" piece to DSP.  Then "frame" this piece with the last Black piece.
  • Attach all to card, where desired.
  • Before you finish.  Cut deer from scrap of Black, or scrap you removed from "window".
  • Stamp sentiment of your choice in black over to the side.

Framed Grassy Grove

This was actually one of the first cards I made with the Grassy Grove Bundle. I liked the fact that it cuts down the "window" die.  I was pleased with the results!

Measurements:

  • Basic Black: 1/2 sheet, 3 1/2" x 4", 3 1/4" x 3 3/4", scrap
  • New Horizons (N): 4" x 5 1/4" (pale papaya swirl), 3 1/4" x 3 3/4" (scenery)
To Make This Card:

Grassy Grove Shadow Box + Video

So, I try to make 2 cards when I sit down with new products!  (That's just for starters, it might be 3, and I go back for more!). I could envision this bundle as a Shadow Box or Diorama Card.  However, the grove die was too large for the cards I had done in the past.  Terri Gaines to the rescue!  She shared this awesome Shadow Box that I just had to try!  She combines the awesome New Horizons DSP with the Grove Dies to create this card! I love how easy this is to make and the results are gorgeous!  Please be sure to check out my Fri-yay Video for this card!

Measurements:

  • Basic Black: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE, scraps
  • New Horizons DSP (N): 4" x 4 1/2" (select one with "green" on the bottom)
  • Basic White: 3 5/8" x 4" (sentiment on back)
To Make This Card:

  • Score Black Base at 1/2" - 5 1/8" - 5 3/4" - 10 3/8".
  • Cut "grove/window" between 5 3/4" and 10 3/8" score lines. (i.e. the 5/8" piece witll be on the right).  Note: This die only cuts a "window" not the outside edges, too! Also cut out 2 "deer".  I cut one from the scrap from the "grove".
  • Carefully crease well with Bone Folder, including the protruding "trees".. These are all "mountain" folds.
  • On the inside of panel, between the 1/2" & 5 1/8" score lines, adhere DSP. (If desired, stamp some "grass" before you adhere this piece).
  • Close front of card to determine placement of "deer".  Add Black Dimensionals to back of deer and place where desired.
  • Apply Tear & Tape on 3/8" tab to adhere end panels together
  • Stamp images and sentiment onto White piece. Note: I used my Stamparatus with these stamps to get a nice, black image! i.e. if the image needs to be darker, you can restamp the image until it is the darkness you would like.
  • Then add this piece to the BACK of the Shadow Box.
  • Too cool, huh!
  • I did not add any other embellishments as I think this card stands alone!

Tri Fold Grassy Grove

Good morning!  I was on a roll yesterday!  I FINALLY had time to play with some of my new toys! I was in my "happy place" (even though it was not down in my studio). I started with this awesome bundle, Grassy Grove.  SU! hit it out of the ballpark on this one!  It is SO unique, and works SO WELL with the New Horizons DSP.  The New Mini Catalog doesn't do this DSP justice! We will be doing this unique Tri-Fold at our club meeting tomorrow.  Thank you Terri Gaines for your awesome inspiration!

Measurements:

  • Basic Black: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
  • Basic White: 4" x 10 1/2"
  • New Horizons DSP (N): 3 3/4" x 5"
To Make This Card:

  • Fold Black base in half.  Crease well with Bone Folder. With the fold on the left side, cut "grove" die from the front of card. Set aside.  Note: This die only cuts a "window" not the outside edges, too!
  • Next, fold the White, inside base in half. Crease well with Bone Folder.
  • With fold of White card on right side, attach DSP to front of this card.
  • Open up this card and stamp images of your choice on the inside surfaces, as shown. Note: I used my Stamparatus with these stamps to get a nice, black image! i.e. if the image needs to be darker, you can restamp the image until it is the darkness you would like.
  • I did not add any other embellishments as I think this card stands alone!
